Free telehealth services for flood ravaged town of Eugowra

21/12/2022

MEDIA RELEASE

Online digital healthcare provider InstantScripts is today announcing that all GP services will be offered free of charge to residents of Eugowra in the Central West of New South Wales.

The program is in response to the recent flooding disaster in November, which claimed the lives of two community members and damaged 80% of homes and businesses.

After speaking with locals, there is a clear need for more healthcare services, with most doctors and chemists located a 30 kilometre drive out of town. Many residents will also be displaced indefinitely while the town rebuilds.

“We want to do something practical to help families in Eugowra, especially at Christmas”, Richard Skimin, Chief Operating Officer of InstantScripts said.

“Customers living in regional Australia tell us that InstantScripts is a lifesaver for them, with very few doctors in their towns”, he said. “It’s hoped this will alleviate the pressure on local doctors in and around Eugowra, by bolstering support services”.

InstantScripts has more than 80 Australian-registered doctors on the platform, available from 6AM to midnight, seven days a week. The $49 fee for an initial GP telehealth consultation will be waived, as will a follow up consult fee of $20.

E-scripts will also be offered free of charge (normally $19), significantly reducing the cost of accessing around 300 common medications.

InstantScripts has also partnered with online psychology platform My Mirror, to offer patients further assistance in accessing mental health care.

All patients need to do to access free healthcare is enter the discount code EUGOWRA along with their home address. Each user can access up to five free consults and/or prescriptions.

This will be available until 31 January and will serve as a pilot program, with hopes to make subsidised services more widely available to regional and remote communities nationwide.
